James

James' (my brother in law) website has some awesome photos. He updates it now and then. His photos make everyday events look like works of art. Kinda like this...

Now that's some freakin' awesome stuff...

Impromptu picnic

[1521] DL: Hey, you guys eaten yet?
[1521] MP: nope. we're watching football. i brought bagels hours ago
[1521] MP: were you looking to go somewhere?
[1522] DL: Togos
[1522] MP: do you want to bing it here or eat there?
[1523] DL: I kinda wanted to eat outdoor. It's a beautiful day out there.
[1523] DL: I was thinking of getting a sandwich and sitting at the park off Kiely
[1523] MP: the one acoss from the hospital?
[1524] DL: Yep
[1524] MP: when did you want to go...
[1524] DL: once i brush my teeth and get changed
[1524] DL: probably 5-10 min or so
[1525] MP: will you get sandwiches for all of us?
[1526] DL: Not a problem
[1526] DL: Place your orders here :)_
[1527] MP: Paul wants a regular albacore tuna sandwich. I would like oriental chicken salad.
[1527] MP: we'll bring our own drinks
[1527] MP: do you want us to bring you something to drink?
[1527] DL: Nah, I'm good
[1528] DL: I'll leave home in abt 10 min
[1528] MP: so about 20 minutes?
[1529] DL: sounds good

And just like that, we had a picnic in the park. I brought my (very sandy) groundsheet, a bottle of Tejava tea (incidentally, that's some awesome stuff right there!) and got the sandwiches from Togo's. It was a nice sunny day, so I took off my tshirt and sunbathed for a bit. Ate sandwiches. Drank tea. Talk shit. Took photos. Great way to spend a lazy Sunday.

I caved!

I don't usually do this. I'm not really one who rushes out to buy the latest coolest gadget to hit the streets. Heck, I bought my Xbox after it had been out for over a year!

But this time... This time, temptation won. I caved in. I did it. I forked out $245 for an iPod nano. It is... small... Super duper small. Incredibly small. It is only 3.5 inches long, 1.6 inches across, and only a QUARTER INCH THICK! That's thinner than a pencil!

I love it already, and I haven't even used it.

Motivation

I like practicing martial arts, but I sorely lack motivation. Solution? Go with friends. I'm going with David (my dentist's brother) to Chris' (David's buddy) TKD gym. Chris is a 4th dan, very personable. The gym is very new (3 wks old) and there's very few people there.

That's good and bad...

Good - I get almost personal attention. I don't think I need that attention because I don't think I really much in the way of "instruction" per se. I don't really intend to go competitive, I don't really care to go for belts either, I just want to work out, spar, improve my skills.

Bad - There's nobody there that's anywhere near my level, except Chris. And it's a school, so I gotta pay for this stuff, which I don't really want to. I like the space, the mats, the equipment, so I wonder if I can rent time from Chris or something...

Ah, we'll see what happens. If I can get a few folks to do this with me, I may end up just renting space and running my own stuff... We'll see...
