Shoes - And the winner is...

I decided that I didn't want something classical. I wanted something somewhat casual but dressy enough for me to wear out. The winner was the Bacco Bucci Orlando:

[Update Apr 19]
Love the shoes. They look better in real life than in the photos! Only problem is I got them probably half a size too small, so I had to reorder them in a larger size. Sigh.

Thinking of buying a new pair of black leathers to replace my overworn pair. Without further ado, here are the contenders. Tell me what you think.

Moving? But why?!

I live 10 minutes drive from work. The commute rocks! I could not have (realistically) asked for a shorter drive. So why am I moving?

I've always wanted to own and operate my own business. I'm not content working for THE MAN when I could be THE MAN. Now, I have a chance to move in with 2 other guys that I get along really well with, who share similar enterpreneural aspirations, who have the same motivation to retire young. The price? My commute is going to increase by some ridiculous factor, from 10 minutes to probably more than an hour each way. The payoff is that I get a chance to live in a household where I can bask in, and contribute to, a pool of motivation that I wouldn't otherwise have access to.

It doesn't hurt that SF has a great social scene as well... ;)

It's a gamble. But I'm still young, and I'll probably never have another opportunity to take this sort of chance again. I want to take (calculated) risks and see where it leads me. And when it all comes down to it, if not now, when?

So what's going to happen?

I'm going to sell of my SJ condo sometime in May/June, cos I can't realistically afford to keep paying the mortgage for 3 houses. My balance sheet is bleeding red ink from the mortgage every month! Most of my furniture is going to be sold or given away cos I really don't want to bring all my stuff with me. I'll get a place in SF and start commuting.

It'll be a great adventure! I can't wait...

Furniture inventory list

This is what I have (more or less correct, as of midnight 4th Apr)

Email/IM me for details. Price is negotiable, but will probably be really freakin' cheap unless it's one of those expensive items (like the TV!) I just want it gone, and if someone can use it, fabulous!

After 7 May, whatever is left, I'll post on Craigslist or ebay or toss it in the trash or... something...

Storming

Wacky day. It's been raining all day, and the rain is, quite frankly, a little of a bummer.

I watched V for Vendetta. It was a pretty damn good movie, good combination between action, drama and ideology. Hugo Weaving was awesome as the damn-verbose-but-cool-while-doing-it main character. Natalie Portman was... such a babe. I'm male... I'm allowed to be shallow. OK OK... She turned in a great emotional performance, especially during the prison scenes.

In fact, Derek the Movie Critic says "Go Watch It!".

It was raining pretty heavily when I left the theatre. I drove home slowly cos I was thinking. Yes, sometimes DEEP THOUGHTS invade my head. I have no idea what I was thinking about, but I was marginally aware that my mental wheels were turning. Then I saw this guy walking along the road. He was maybe 20, drenched, and looked damned miserable. I looked at him as I drove past. Then on the spur of a moment, I decided to U-turn and offer him a ride to wherever he was headed. After all, a good deed never hurt anyone (much) right?

I pull up, and yell out the window "Hey man, come on in, I'll give you a ride!". He turns to me, and says in a very clipped accent "I'm Korean, I don't speak chinese, sorry" and walks off without a second glance. He could have misheard me through the rain (although I am pretty good at projecting my voice clearly), but there was something about the way he dismissively turned and walked away that just told me that you can't save everyone. Oh well.
